REDS CRASH TO EMPHATIC FRIENDLY DEFEAT

Liverpool completed their pre-season preparations in the worst possible fashion by crashing to an emphatic 5-0 defeat against FSV Mainz in Germany on Friday night.

With next week's Champions League qualifier in mind Rafa Benitez started with a strong looking side but, following a series of substitutions, a sensational five-goal second half blast from the hosts consigned the Reds to a humiliating loss.

Feulner, Damm, Jovanovic, Amri and Pupalovic were the men who did the damage on a night Liverpool will want to quickly forget.

Meanwhile ManUTD beat Porto 3-1 in another friendly. Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney (who else?) getting red carded. I guess it's Cristiano Ronaldo's fault.

Beating Porto 3-1 with 9 men. Pretty good if you ask me. Also, both sendings off were harsh. Rooney's was an 'elbow' that would not even have been yellow in good old Enlgand and Scholes went through the back ofsomeone and got a straight red .
