The call centre is definitely experiencing the friendly bug at Telkom. Ordered upgrade from 512 to 1024 and the lady (Berenise) was so friendly I still cannot believe it. The service should be upgraded by Friday she said, if not I should notify them on a number she also gave me. I got a Closer call answering service that included line rental which meant an additional R37 for free calls after 7pm. Doubt it is 100% free, but I always try anything twice. I know dialup Internet is not included though. But semi-free is still "closer" (excuse the pun) to what we want, not so? 
Some of my friends can expect some interesting calls from now on. Heheheheheh!
