So I have a 2003 Tazz. I am planning on dropping in a new motor as a project.
The first step to this process is obviously to upgrade my brakes, to larger calipers and and ventilated rotors.
The current brakes on a tazz, starts fading very quickly and braking is very poor.
So I managed to do the passenger side no problems. braking much better now but car tends to sway to the passenger side a bit because of uneven braking.
The driver side, however has a captive rotor assembly.
The rotor is bolted on THE INSIDE of the axle hub.
This means I will have to remove the axle, press the hub out of the bearing, then unbolt the rotor, replace it, then press the hub back into the wheel bearing, then replace the axle.
Is this a recommended DIY. I am afraid that I will damage the wheel bearing.
Also I probably wont be able to use the same brake kit i have installed on the passenger side.
My question is:
How do I convert the driver side to non-captive rotors, so I can install my new brakes?
Which parts should I replace and is it DIY
