Hi guys , I feel like I'm missing something here and I need some clarity on this ONT.

Issue: I have 120/60mbps line with vox but I'm not getting the full speed. It's tops out at 94mbps at best and this is with a unencrypted wired connection

Frogfoot are pushing back saying I'm not using the correct cable. I work with tech so I have stacks of patch cables around the apartment 5e and Cat6 neither of which seem to improve the speed. My PC ethernet port is rated for 1 gbps, the router I'm using is rated for 1 gbps, connecting the PC to the router I get a 1 gbps connection.

HOWEVER when I connect my pc directly to the ONT the connection is 100mbps. Now I could be wrong here but wouldn't that mean that the above hardware does not support speeds over 100mbps? I can't find a spec sheet for this unit so I can't be certain.

What am I doing wrong? I'm willing to accept that maybe I'm ****ing up here some how.

That ONT definitely does more than 100mbps - cables are usually the lowest common denominator - that and speed profiles on the router itself as well. Vox isnt doing too great in terms of reviews so they may also be having issues of a misconfiguration on their side.

Hi @M_Kat ,

Hope you are well,

Normally the FNO (Fiber Network Operator) should be able to display the synchronization rate of the port on your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) to you or your ISP if you have report the fault. This will show if the Port on the ONT is syncing at 1Gbps or not and can help narrow down the problem to between the ONT and the router, The calix 801Gv2(ONT) by default has a 1.0Gbps Port :

You can log in to your router to check the synchronization rate of the WAN interface if your router supports this function. Please follow these steps:

1. Open a web browser and enter the router's IP address in the address bar.
2. Enter your login credentials when prompted.
3. Navigate to the WAN settings or status page, where you will find information regarding the sync rate.

Another thing you can look at is what the NIC(network interface card) on your Computer is syncing at when connected to the ONT as well. If the cable is syncing at 1Gbps between the computer and the router and you use the same cable between the computer and the ONT and the Sync status only is at 100Mbps then the ONT port can be faulty.

Hi thanks for the feedback and yes ive confirmed that the sync status between the pc and the ONT is 100mbps. So it's probably a faulty ONT.

Only a pleasure. Then your ISP should log a ticket for this matter
