First I have to apologise to everyone ? if any, reading this thread as I am a newcomer to the 3G world. Why 3 G ? as everyone, more or less on this forum, talks about ADSL being cheaper than anything else for internet access, I beg to differ, as follows ???
I read the tariffs calculations for 3 Gigs on HELLKOM, on ADSL broadband / costs samples WITH the telkom line rental, ADSL line rental and the cost of ISP package, the "calls" and VAT !!
and I found, from the cheapest # 1 DHIS broadband ( home 1024K =R 576/month)
to the most expensive # 98 KINGSLEY for the SAME service = R 1176/month.
I do not talk about capped or uncapped, after hours etc....; as there are too many options that I do not understand or NEED ?
For my personnal use, at home for small business + lots e-mails + SKYPE + lots of scouring Google for research and documentation, I have at present Autopage / MTN 3g with a HUAWEI modem for 1 gig/month for R 349, but am changing to TELKOM "do broadband" offering the same thing but 2 gig for R 348 +/- /month. ( soon they will offer nmore for the same price, because of fiber network ! ) maybe 3 or 4 gigs or 5 ??
So, I do not see any ADSL combination being cheaper in any way, but maybe I am wrong... And there is no : capping, uncapping after hours... and all the restrictions everyone is talking about in this forum.
Please light up my lantern !
I am not a nerd or computer freak and I do not know anything about computers, I just want CHEAP internet access !
