I'm looking at moving providers from Telkom to Axxess, but remaining on Telkom's LTE network.

Will I still need to serve Telkom notice? Or can my existing Telkom sim merely be 'migrated' to Axxess with whatsever necessary changes to be made between the 2 provider's backends?

If the latter.... have people had a flawless experience? (We all know how hopeless Telkom's accounts, call centres, etc. are and how atrocious service can be).

Logically, one would be inclined to cancel Telkom, serve notice, etc. and only then initiate Axxess. But I'm kinda pissed at Telkom for increasing their prices by 20% in an already rough month without advance notice (consequently their higher debit order bounced, the bank levied penalties and Telkom whacked their own +/- R200 penalty to their bill - to add insult to injury....). I'd therefore prefer not to have to pay them for an extra month/a notice month - I'd rather kick off immediately, and hopefully seamlessly, with Axxess....

Hope this makes sense. Appreciate hearing your thoughts and experiences. Thanks in advance.

Although Axxess are totally reliant on Telkom for their (Telkom's) LTE services, to the best of my knowledge (as I've limited dealings with both, being a client of Telkom's, through Axxess) Axxess function independently.

You can give them a call to double check on your queries, but Axxess courier our Telkom SIM cards registered (RICA'd) in someone's name, who works for them.
You still have to give the courier copies of ID and proof of address, but they register it on their side.

I know, because I see it every time I check data usage in that Telkom Prepaid app or the "onnet" web page I mentioned previously.

Also, note that if you get a Telkom SIM through Axxess, then start looking around your profile at the options, you'll notice that you can transfer to another Telkom SIM.

However, I've queried this before with them, and it's only to another Telkom SIM card they issue - as a result, you'd need to sign up for another one from R159 pm (I think) with them.

You're effectively getting involved in Axxess' walled garden, with Telkom providing the signal & data - core, essential services, but Axxess controlling as much as they can.

I therefore doubt very much that they'd ever allow you to transfer data from a SIM you're currently using, to a new one they issue, nor even take over the registration details from that existing one.

Anything else, fire away with questions and I'll help if I can ; but preferably, speak to one of the agents as well to determine if things might of changed ; I got my most recent SIM from them just over a year ago.
