Front Loading Washing Machine with Lint filter

And is it super clever! It has a pump that circulates the water and has a full-on lint filter AND it has a water trap which means when you clean the filter, there is no stupid little pipe involved to drain water.
I don't need to clean the filter unless there is a problem. It's not a lint filter. ;)
Too bad for you -- buy modern junk and that is what you get.
I replaced an old top loader with the front loader to save water and while it might be "modern", it's far from junky.

Besides, it's kind of pointless buying a old machine that will cost more in repairs than buying a new one.

There always has to be that one old retired guy thinking he is smart. What's a next, the P trap underneath the kitchen sink is called a debris filter.

Yes, because that is exactly what OP is referring to. You freaking genius.
Lol selective quoting? I wasn't quoting the OP anyway.
Bosch Drain Pump Filter (00647920) traps lint
Nevermind the fact a front loader is much gentler on clothes so you won't have much lint if any at all. OP bought a secondhand appliance. OP should buy a new Bosch and then reassess. Right now he is looking for a problem he most probably inherited.

Yes, anytime I need to buy a new appliance, I make sure to pop into my nearest 'yester year's appliances' to buy those old ones that were built to last....

Those old flat irons that you had to heat up on the fire were also way superior and lasted forever.

No cheap modern junk for me!

Because the pump circulates water through and back into the machine when not pumping it out ------
At least that is what every single one of the front loaders I have ever owned has done.

Fail to clean that filter on a regular basis and you quickly see the result -- lint on clothes.
And just BTW, IF that filter gets blocked or jammed by some other things such as a coin, the machine WILL fail to let water out when it should AND will complete whatever its cycle is AND WILL allow the door to be opened on completion of a cycle, just exactly as OP reported.
I’ll admit I’m no washing machine enigneer, but last time I opened mine up I’m pretty sure the only direction water was going from the pump was out. I have never heard the pump turn on besides for when it’s draining water and it certainly does not pump the water back to the top of the maching where fresh water enters. Why does the water need to be be circulated anyways when the drum circulates the clothes through the water?

So my trusty Samsung washing machine died today. It cannot sense the water level and was filling up completely, maid managed to open the door and flood my house. Anyways it was bought second hand and I used it for nice 5 years and I am guessing it was used for at least 3 more years by the previous owner, so my best choice is to buy new instead of getting this one fixed.

Anyways, I was already fed up with lint on my clothes after a wash and had sworn that my next washing machine will be with a lint filter. Any recommendations?

buy another one. Samsung washing machines are good. if you get 5 to 10 years out of it then I think its done its job

Mine is going on 7 or 8 years now.

you are right, I had rented a fully furnished flat and when I was moving out the owner offered to sell the stuff in the flat so that he can rent it out unfurnished, I literally didn't have anything at that time so I was happy to buy.
I got a dining set with 12 chairs, a tv, 3+2+1 pleather couches, 1 Sealy bed + base, a tv unit for R7000. Was not a bad deal at all :).
This is probably the fourth time the washing machine is doing this. The first time it did that was in the flat and we ended up flooding the apartment. Called the owner, he did nothing so I tried to fix it up myself.
Figured out that there is a water level sesor that controls a solenoid to start and stop the water. A pipe goes in this sensor, I removed the pipe blew into it and it was fine. probably was blocked by some lint or whatever you call that slimy sh*t inside the washing machine.
I tried the same fix this time, but it just doesn't want to work.

My Samsung front loader from Makro is now 12 years old...I dont give a toss about the machine..just gets a wipe down and thats it......open the door...throw the clothes in add the powder and off it goes....Same with all the dog blankets and my winter blankets...the only toss thing is when the power goes on and off you have to reset it...no memory...

My samsung top loader only now an issue. But also about 10 years old at least. So no issues.

Have a small samsung top loader I bought 2nd hand 15 years ago. Use it intermittently only now but still going strong.

In market for new washing machine.

My choice is between Samsung or LG.

Here's the thing: literally every single "modern" front loader is designed in a very similar manner to the ones of olde. They may come in a range of silver colours today, and it's fashionable to have oversize doors, a few more blinking lights, and a really cheap silly tune that plays when its finished  but basically they are all designed in exactly the same way as the ones from 35 years ago. Oh yes, and instead of an 800 RPM spin cycle, it's now 1200 RPM. Whoopee doo. The detergent, softener and bleach dispensers are also in exactly the same place. Who today uses bleach in their washing? That's a thing from waaay back when. And the fliters are all on the bottom RHS. Some very minor improvements, like LG's direct drive motor, but other than that, they are all the same.

**** update *** Not buying a new washing machine for now.
So last thing I did on this machine was to clean the valve pipe so that the water sensor works and checked the drain pipe for debris, which had little effect. The machine still took in excess water and was leaking from the door.

I left the door open so that the water inside dries up, as I read somewhere that it is what you are supposed to do after every use. I also cleaned up some goo on the rubber gasket/ sealer thingy where the door meets the body. There were some holes that were clogged, I think that door makes sure that the water doesn't stay between the layers of rubber.
Guess what its fixed ! all working fine. But next time it breaks and I am not able to fix it myself I am getting rid of it.

It's important. A cupful of Finish / Supabrite dishwasher granules at 90 degrees every 2-3 months does it for me. Along with scraping and cleaning the crud from the dispenser drawer, especially the "softener".

In areas where the water has a high lime content, the only thing we have ever done is to add some tartaric acid to the above suggestion and run the machine for a water-only wash and rinse. the dispenser draw is simple to remove and clean regularly. and the door of the machine is never closed when the machine is not in use.
