Hi, I've been struggling the last few days to upgrade my line from 384k to 1024k.

A few days after putting in the upgrade order, I received a call from them saying that my line has been upgraded.

One reset of the router later however, and my router still reported the same slow as hell line rate.

After phoning Telkom about a million times, they maintain that according to their system my line has in fact been upgraded. So now I'm in a situation where Telkom says my line has been upgraded but I can see that it hasn't been done, and I'm stuck in a sort of limbo. I've logged a fault and received a reference number but haven't received a call from any technicians yet.

Now the only other option is that the line has in fact been upgraded but somehow my router doesn't want to sync at 1024k. My question is, are there any setup changes that need to be made, or is the fault solely down to Telkom and if so what can I do to fix this debacle?

Here is a report from the ol' Dlink:

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB): 30.3 22.0
Attenuation (dB): 24.0 13.0
Output Power (dBm): -0.9 4.4
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 10400 1000
Rate (Kbps): 384 128

PS: Sorry for the long post :o

Hi LBXAC20

If you PM me your number I can check if it really was updated,
There isn't anything you should configure on your end that I know off.

Regards
Keegan

Hi don't want to hijack the thread but just want to ask, what steps you followed to upgrade your line? as I'm looking to bump up my line from 384kbps to 1mbps at the end of the month aswel. Do you just call them and ask them to up the speed or must I go to the telkom store here in bfn and deal with them?

Yeah you pretty much just call them and tell them you want to upgrade. They'll tell you it takes 24-48 hours and you'll receive a call/sms when its done. Apparently your old speed is charged prorata the amount of the month you used that and your new line speed is prorata the rest of the month, at least thats what they told me, don't know if thats how it actually works LOL

Thanks for the info, I have been dreading going to the telkom direct store here its a real relief to know I won't have to...

After phoning Telkom about a million times, they maintain that according to their system my line has in fact been upgraded.

What's the number you phoned to check? I was at Telkom shop last week Thursday and requested upgrade from 384 to 1mb and have not heard anything from them since.

Phoned 10210, then go 3 for service queries and then try and get to new products or progress on orders. Either way you get to a sales consultant which will tell you if the upgrade has been done or not 'according to their system'. Unfortunately it seems that their system is either totally inaccurate or disconnected from reality.
You're line has been upgraded on the 8th and you're using the 1meg profile.

How are you checking things from your side?
