Any reason it HAS to be FTP??? You can get anything you want ( 'ceptin' Alice ) via NNTP or news-via-HTTP for smallish fees.

look man as you can see i don't know much about this stuff.
and i once downloaded some software with took me to an ftp site( i added it to my download manager witch supports ftp) and it was very easy to download it so iv been looking for games and stuff from ftp sites but i cant find them..thats all

I was also a noobie once, thought that the volume label on a hard drive had something to do with the "volume" itself, and never touched it, too scared in case I screwed up something.
The reason why 127.0.0.1 tickles me is because of this...

You can use Google.
In the old days we used Archie to find stuff and ftp'ed it down... took ages what with 2400bps modems...
wasn't always easy or the most userfriendly back then... Nowadays it's much easier. Most public FTP sites tend to stick their stuff into the public directory on their FTP sites, but with FTP you will only see the file names and not the descriptions of the files or what these do...

You could also go and snoop around at ftp://ftp.sun.ac.za/ , there is a Tucows mirror on there too, somewhere.
