Hi all,

I have a pre-paid ADSL account through WebAfrica and I'm happy with it, except for when it comes to FTP'ing at times :(

I'm a web developer and often when trying to upload files to my clients' ftp servers I end up with the problem that the files being uploaded seem to "stick" after around 5k or so and never finish their upload.

I can cancel the upload & retry time & again without any joy. This is really starting to p!ss me off now. The funny thing is that I can connect & browse existing files, etc with no problems - its only a problem when uploading.

Any ideas what could be causing it? A network guy said that I need to request that I be excluded from some kind of ISP cache? I asked the Web Africa guys & they told me that they only handle user credentials & bandwidth usage??

Apparently I'd need to take it up with Telkom/SAIX...

Any suggestions / advice would be most welcome!

Thanks,
M.

Does it make any difference if you swap from active to passive ftp or vice versa?

Thanks rwenzori!! I switched over to PASV mode and the files all uploaded successfully! I still have to test with a couple more ftp servers but it looks really promising.

Thanks again!

M.
