Have installed a router (D-Link DIR-320) to share iBurst connection to wireless home network, but since I did that I am unable to use FTP.

I am using FileZilla as my FTP client and have Forwarded all the relevant ports on the router.

Problem is, when I try and connect it returns the following error:

Connecting to probe.filezilla-project.org
Response: 220 FZ router and firewall tester ready
USER FileZilla
Response: 331 Give any password.
PASS 3.1.3.1
Response: 230 logged on.
Checking for correct external IP address
Retrieving external IP address from http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php
Checking for correct external IP address
IP 196.2.124.xxx bjg-c-bce-cfc
Response: 510 Mismatch. Your IP is 41.208.204.xxx, eb-cai-cae-ccc
Wrong external IP address
Connection closed

The 41.208.204.xxx IP address is that assigned by iBurst to the connection on the router and if I insert that as the external IP address it just times out.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

FTP has not been functional since last week on the iBurst network... (seems blocked)

EDIT: Having issues with FTP on Telkom network as well, but not as severe...

SG - you perhaps want to f/up?

Just downloaded a small file from the Tukkies ftp server through Firefox - no problems and very fast too.

Hi RvMal

The response I get from the ftp on that selection is "127.0.0.1"

I am behind a Billion 6404VGP router.

Please PM me your contact detail so that I can assist further.

Cheers

I've just tested by uploading some stuff to my FTP site with a direct connection [PCMCIA] stuck into the laptop,

Updated using the passive mode.

Edit: located in JHB

Shaun, you will have PM shortly, but you have my contact details already ;)

@RVFMal - Do you use passive mode FTP?

I tried in both Passive and Active modes. Apparently Passive does not work if you are behind a router.

I used to have a ftp server behind a NATbox on my iBurst and it worked fine.

If I remeber correctly all I had to do was forward a port on my NATbox to the pc and configure my ftp server to scan for public ip changes every 5 minutes.

If the client is behind a firewall/router they must use passive mode, as it is impossible for the server to connect back to the client.

According to FileZilla (my FTP client) it will not work in passive mode if you are behind a router.

I have already forwarded a number of ports on the router to the PC.
