On Windows I would recommend Filezilla Server, A really easy interface, allowing you to limit users to upload speeds, as well as quotas. Setup will only take to 2 mins. Easiest FTP server out there

I think it might be a better option to rather discuss the problem you have been experiencing with FileZilla.

If you just want your family to view your pics - why not just use Google picasa - you upload your pics and they can view them using a browser. Also if your drive crashes then you have a copy on the google servers.

If you really want to use FTP then +1 for Filezilla. You must be doing something wrong. :)

from your machine open a dos box and ftp to your dyndns address.

If you ping your dyndns fqdn is the the same IP address as the one shown on www.whatismyip.com

You probably also need to setup port forwarding on your router/firewall - have you done this?

filezilla server FTW

there's two filezilla's - a client and a server version

the client cannot act as a server.

after i do that my friends still cannot connect to me. I have been to dyndns.com for ip resolve. I dont know what im doin wrong?

You will still need to configure port forwarding on your router, as well as allow access through your firewall before people can connect.
