Hi All
I would like to setup a FTP server on my desktop PC running Windows 10,
but I'm not sure on how to configure my router to allow connections to my machine.
So ideally what software would you recommend to do this and how would I configure
my router ( Cool Ideas TP-Link supplied )

Regards
Grant

Firstly, I'd recommend not using an FTP server at all.

But if you have to for some reason you just need port 21: https://portforward.com/tp-link/

If you're trying to serve up files I'd much rather recommend just uploading those once to a cloud provider (or set up a sync with something like Google Drive) and share that link. That way you don't need to open yourself up to the internet unnecessarily.

Best to run a seperate pc for the ftp. Then put this pc in a DMZ so the remainder of you network/subnet is not exposed.

If you have to run some form of FTP server yourself and do not want to make use of cloud services (as @DrJohnZoidberg suggested), rather set up a FTPS or SFTP server - more secure.
