Same problem here, my webhoster cannot be reached and my side is down. Upload via ftp doen't work.

DUDE, I have been having this problem for ages.
I have local and international webspace.
I have bitched and moaned, logged complaints, had the techies here and it still sucks.
I find that uploading through the browser interface goes a bit faster than ftp clients but still very very slow.
Some days I get a good 20K up (am on 512 adsl) but most of the time if its over 10 I am happy, normal average for me is below 5.
I have given Telkom my usernames and passwords for my isp accounts and webspace in the past and they cant sort it out.
I kept a fault open for a weekend once, refusing to close it. Funny thing was, whislt the fault was logged, all was fine, a day after the fault was closed, it all went back to normal, K@K

mmm never had a problem on ADSL 512 and my uploads using CuteFtp are never under 60 KB/sec unless its international then they sit around 20 - 40 KB/sec.
On a saturday afternoon they often hit 106 KB/sec for long periods of time :)
Storm is my ISP.

are you guys using the a FQDN to connect, or the IP number of the server ?

Try the IP number and see what happens.
