FTTH Randpark Ridge Sign Up Drive

Hi Everyone,

I started this thread in the hopes that we can get better quality internet in Randpark Ridge. I've done some homework and it seems that both our neighbours in Fairlands and Weltevreden park are pushing for 123net.net as their service provider. Planning has in fact already started in Weltevreden Park. As you can see from the image below, we only require another 213 signups for us to be considered as well.

Obviously, if there is an ISP out there that can do this faster or cheaper, please don't hesitate to mention it below.

Hi.

Would it be possible to include Sundowner (Puttick Avenue - close to Curro Aurora)?
I'm just across the road (Beyers Naude) so we're practically neighbours too :)

I have chatted to the guys at onecloudinternet.com and they're also keen to install if we can get about a 100 people to sign up, so they would be an alternative.
I've tried and failed to engage the neighbouring complexes, so I'm hoping that you can succeed.

Contact the guys from 123Net, they are very helpful and if you ask them nicely they may combine a neighboring suburb with yours making it easier for you to reach that 300 mark.

My pleasure. Another thing you may try to get the message out there is to contact the local security organization, residents organization and ward councilor and ask them to direct people to the website with a message why they should sign up. Usually if you explain to them that you are a resident in the area and not connected to the company in any way, nor will you make money from this, and why fibre is a good idea (you can visit our website for some ideas) then they usually help out and send messages through their existing communication networks which we have found to be by far the most effective way to reach residents.

Hopefully we'll make a nice bump in the number of sign ups.
When I tried mailing the chairpersons of neigbouring complexes, they all (about 4 or 5 of them) flat out ignored me and never bothered to even reply.
 
Yeah I have also seen this from the gated communities in my area. Best is to ask someone in that complex / gated community to drive it (ie.e nag them) from within the complex. They have no responsibility to you, but they have a responsibility to their owners.
 
True, but unfortunately I don't know anyone from these complexes.

Oh well, posted on our complex Facebook Page, lets see how that goes.
 
Believe me it takes a hell of a lot of effort. One way is to hand out flyers at the gate as residents drive through, often one of them are interested enough that they will come chat to you and from there on you build the social network so that you can bring in the fibre network. Complexes are great since they already have the ducting / pipes in place to get a fibre to each home.
 
There's a very active Randpark Ridge Community section on Facebook!
 
I would rather look at other fiber providers, as 123net is not open access, so you are bound to their networks/terms, i like the idea of open access networks where you get the fibre and choose your own isp
