Hi

Is there any way to trace down an intermittent fuel smell on any fuel-injected car?

My car tends to do that in the winter months (on the first drive of the day). It usually comes from the engine.
You should take a sniff, your nose will lead you to the closest proximity and from there on you will be able to check further.

Also, it may indicate inefficient combustion. So maybe check the spark plugs or cables or timing.
