There's a special on the S3200 at IC where you get this camera as well as a C25 for R1999. We are looking for something with a nice optical zoom but couldn't decide on whether to go for a smaller compact like the Samsung F150W or something bigger like Fuji S2995 or one of the other bridge Canons or Nikons. This might solve the problem, but what do you guys think? We are both just normal users without any photography training. Any other suggestions in the price range up to R2500?

Nice camera, but just remember that you get what you pay for. I checked out that Fuji and the things that kept me from buying it was :
Slowish lens that starts from F 3.1, so low light performance is not going to be staggering.
MotionJPEG video with mono sound - something you definitely should not be getting on a new camera.
Long exposures only up to 8 seconds - ideally 15 should be your minimum.

But at R2k I doubt you are going to get much better. Reminds me of my old Kodak Z1015 that cost the same 3 years ago.
