Hi everyone

I need your help please.

I have a Nikon D3200 with the 18-55 non VR and 55-200 non VR kits lenses but I am thinking of selling this kit with all the extra's and getting myself a used full frame camera.

I do know that Full Frame is way more expensive and I am willing to spend extra...

My budget currently is R15k but then I will have to go for a used kit if I am not mistaken.

So what would you guys suggest I get for 15k? Is there anything you can suggest with a decent all round lens?

Looking forward to hear from you

Planning on sticking with Nikon?

I bought a 2nd hand D600 for 12k, if you can find one and understand the risks with the shutter issue (Nikon replaces the shutter free of charge, but I still get it cleaned every 2 weeks). Other FF options from the top of my head for that budget are Canon 5D MK I / II. Or Nikon D700, D3x. Nothing wrong with going 2nd hand, granted you check it properly.

Yeh I actually did have a look at the D600 but I live in George and for some reason camera gear repairs etc is not very popular in this area so I think I should give it a skip :)

Will definitely look at the other options you mentioned.

Thanks

Wait, what?

bwana, when i did research on the D600 I also got a sense that there was some bad stuff happening with the D600's shutter. Why I don't know but people on the net is not very positive regarding this...

It's not some mystery. It's common knowledge they had shutter issues, hence why Nikon offers free shutter replacements and why you can no longer buy a new D600. As for why I get mine regularly cleaned it's pretty much down to my shooting style and not necessarily a bad product. My camera takes quite a bit of abuse and I shoot lots of timelapses, getting dust on the sensor has become part of normal life for me. The fact that I got a camera on par with a D750 for 12k trumps the minor inconveniences of keeping it clean.

That being said, I've had some times where I got pretty upset about spots on photos. But it takes a few seconds to fix it via Lightroom and if it's not a sequence of 1000+ pics, then it's no big deal

I had a Nikon D600 since release and shot dozens of wedding with it and have never seen a single spot, sold it last month and not a spot of oil, the buyer is happy. Only the first batch had oil issues, which was fixed with the replacement of a new shutter after a mountain of complaints, never had mine replace never had any reason to. D600 is a brilliant camera, shoot clear clean pictures. Your best budget FF.
D610 was released not to long after the D600. I can't fault a Nikon D600.
