Role Purpose
Provides database designs models for practical business or systems use. The custodian of best practises regarding databases.
Responsibilities
• Manage Database Environnent
• Design and create relational databases
• Database Performance Monitoring and Tuning
• Ensure Database Availability at all times
• Database Security and Authorization
• Database Backup and Recovery
• Develop and maintain a database backup strategy
• Maintain Data Integrity
• DBMS Release Migration
• Database Architecture
• Data Modelling.
Additional Requirements
Additional responsibilities
Solid understanding of Data Architecture and Data Integration concepts, methods, and strategies
Strong understanding of Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Database Design
Application Development background
Solid understanding of database and query performance tuning methodologies and techniques
Solid understanding of database monitoring
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies
Working knowledge of Project Management tools and methodologies
Team player, working closely with developers to achieve successful project deployment
Knowledge of the following Technologies are Required:
IMS, DB2
SQL, SSIS, SSRS
CICS
JCL
XML
Enterprise Scheduling System, such as Autosys, CA-7
Additional experience
Previous experience with Business Intelligence / Reporting is required
Previous experience using Data Integration tools, such as Informatica is required
Qualifications and Experience
• Tertiary qualification in a mathematical or information systems discipline advantage.
• 3 to 4 Years related experience.
