Description:
Main Role:
• As an experienced developer, you will be part of a development team responsible for implementing quality code changes initiated by customers (support) or product management (development).
• You will need to be able to work closely with analysts, designers, documenters and testers to deliver high quality product to a specified timescale.
Requirements:
Education & Qualifications:
• Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification with a computer science major from a recognized technikon or university.
• Minimum of 5 years commercial experience developing software
Technical Skills & Experience:
• Business Objects (BO) / Crystal:
o Minimum 2-3 years reports development experience, including at least 1 year of BO experience
o BO admin & universe design experience would be a strong advantage
o Crystal Reports experience specifically using a universe would be advantageous
o Business Objects XI experience would be advantageous
o Business Objects SDK experience would be advantageous
o Experience in Dashboard Builder & Xcelsius would be advantageous
o Knowledge of Data Warehousing design concepts would be advantageous
• Database:
o Must have strong understanding of SQL queries (preferably Oracle)
o Some Database modeling experience (preferably Oracle) would be advantageous.
• General:
• Unix (HP-UX, Solaris and/or AIX) experience would be advantageous
o Telecommunications background would be advantageous
o CVS, Subversion, or similar version control tool experience would be advantageous.
Personal Attributes:
• Able to work overtime and standby when required
• Needs to be able to work in a team.
• Ability to work well under pressure, especially in maintaining a balanced and logical approach.
• Self motivated and self managed
• Must be able to use initiative and take ownership
• Able to communicate effectively
• Report on progress and raise issues / problems when necessary
