EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER
PRETORIA
R 350 000.00 – R 550 000.00
A leading scientific and technology research organization based in Pretoria is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in the Radar and Electronic Warfare Systems Competency area. This position is in a team that is involved in the development of Radar signal and data processor technology as well as technology for the testing and evaluation of new generation radar systems. This technology utilizes custom developed digital electronics and real time control software.
Qualifications & Experience:
• B.Eng degree (preferably a M.Eng) in Electronic Engineering essential !!
• At least 1-3 years experience.
• Experience in Object-Oriented software development, preferably in both a real time as well as desktop operating system environment.
• Experience in hardware interfacing and control is recommended.
• Experience with UML and related software development methodologies
• Experience in the following fields would be advantageous:
• Embedded Software development.
• Exposure to the defense industry.
• Matlab, Simulink and Real-Time Workshop
• Firmware/VHDL development
• SA Citizenship is essential as a Security Clearance is required for this position !!
Major Challenges & Responsibilities:
• Software engineering: requirements definition, software design, development, testing and integration.
• Researching and proposing new technology solutions for diverse application areas.
• The incumbent will be required to work in a team containing diverse skills, such as RF engineering, digital design, signal analysis as well as system engineering.
• He/she will be required to follow system engineering and software processes.
• Responsibilities will include the generation of design documentation for the developed products.
• Projects often require employees to work closely with international defense organizations and industry including the Middle-East and China.
