Main purpose of the Job
The Operations division in Cape Town currently has a vacancy for a Financial Controller who, reporting to the Management Accountant will be responsible for the financial control of financial transactions and business processes.
Job Outputs
- Month end financial accounting procedures, including; authorising journals, reviewing of balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement analysis – Liaise on accounts / billing issues and supporting the Management Accountant / Financial Manager – Control of revenue, cost of sales and general expenses – Budget / forecast preparation and control – Month-end reporting (financial and statistical) – Control of various registers
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability – Initiative – Assertiveness – Ability to multi-task and work well in a team – Ability to work effectively under pressure – Attention to detail – Computer literate – Excel (IBS and Oracle would be advantageous) – Dealing with a subscriber-type business – Dealing with large volumes of transactions – Extracting and manipulating data
Qualifications and Experience
- ORACLE and IBS knowledge advantageous – Financial degree or diploma – Three years relevant financial admin and Budget / forecast preparation experience – Two years staff management experience – Working principles and HR process knowledge and principles – Knowledge of basic employment conditions
