Description:
The IT Administrators role consists of the expert administration of the various IT requirements of the company including but not limited to servers, networks, databases, applications, security, telecommunication systems etc. Design and implementation of effective monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery plans for all of the aforementioned items are essential. Proven problem-solving skills, and knowledge of information technology best practices are critical to successful performance in this role.
Qualification and Experience:
College diploma or university degree in computer science, or management information systems, or a related discipline, and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
At least five years’ equivalent work experience in a senior technical analytical position responsible for managing server environments / networks / databases.
Advanced knowledge of at least 3 of the following: Windows Server, Linux, SQL, IIS, Apache.
Exceptional abilities at load balancing, clustering, and caching procedures and processes.
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of server hardware and associated network equipment, like SCSI, RAID, and I/O topology.
Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
Familiarity with TCP/IP and HTTP network protocols, firewall management, and operating system configuration.
Familiarity with cloud computing options – SAAS, PAAS, IAAS etc.
Extensive experience with operating systems Windows, Windows server Linux and Mac OS.
Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
Experience with configuring DHCP.
Experience with domain management – DNS, A-Records, CNAME records etc.
Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers, like MS SQL or MySQL.
Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
Broad hands-on knowledge of disaster recovery planning and other industry-standard techniques and practices.
Personal Attributes:
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Ability to conduct research into server issues and products as required.
Highly self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
