Key responsibilities
· Drive IT strategy and enterprise architecture alignment
· Ensure IT Technology capacity (applications, services, licenses model, SLA’s) aligns to budget/business plan and business needs
· Technical authority for IT toolbox & Standards
· Establish strong cross-functional working relationships
· Develop innovative and cost effective solutions to meet market needs
· Review and improve existing architecture in line with business strategy
· Lead engineering projects by creating initial design and ensuring that standards are met
· Provide architecture, design philosophy and authority for all aspects of Operations Support, Business Support, Enterprise support and back-office systems for the organizations
· Craft infrastructure design in the various partnership
· Ensure chosen platforms are implemented such as to optimize application performance
· Ensure that all development adheres to appropriate software engineering standards
· Analyze and identify issues and bottlenecks in application performance
· Provide team with guidance to avoid and correct performance inhibitors
· Ensure creation and maintenance of business/technical documentation
· Research third party applications to help make “build or buy” decisions
Requirements,
Qualification & Skills:
· Bachelors degree, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science (Hons.), or allied disciplines, required
· Masters degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or allied disciplines
Experience:
· 8+ years in application and web development using Java, J2EE and related technologies
· 7+ years with high volume, high availability OSS and BSS solutions – must have included transaction processing, order management and fulfilment and Telecommunications billing.
· 7+ years in a role with responsibility for the architecture of a major system or subsystem of a successful web enterprise product – must have experience with end-to-end infrastructure design for web applications including Application Servers, Database Systems, Load Balancers, Clustering, Firewalls
· 5 years designing and building complex, large scale data models
· Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL programming
· 2 years building XML based applications
· Demonstrated experience/knowledge of building Web Services (SOAP, WSDL, UDDI)
· Experience with Solaris/Linux systems
· Emerging Web 2.0 technologies
· Strong analytical ability, technical, communication and writing skills
· Comfortable “rolling up his or her sleeves”; works well in a high-growth, leanly-resourced environment
· Resilient and persistent
· Open, honest and genuine
· Collaborative and inclusive; works well with a diverse team; provides mentorship
· Passionate and committed
· Creative and imaginative
· Some “J2EE” certification desirable
· Data Modelling training and/or certification (especially with Oracle databases)
· Web infrastructure training (for instance – Load balancers, Firewalls, Application servers)
· 10+ years in medium to large scale full life cycle development of projects/products in the telecommunications vertical
