Jembi Health Systems, an NGO focused on Health Information Systems, is looking for Java Developers to join our team of motivated developers working on challenges found in the field of Health Systems Development. Our projects range from researching best practices, developing new Enterprise Architecture frameworks, developing components for enterprise architecture based health information systems through to partner projects with other NGO’s and companies in the field.
The developer will play an integral role within these boundaries focusing on delivering solutions that aid in accomplishing the goal of the projects Jembi takes on. The developer will be involved in the development and design of software applications in, but not limited to, the Health Informatics and interoperability space. This would require competency in a number of key technologies including J2EE, Spring, MySQL and other Web 2.0 standards as well as developmental experience for platform independent environments.
Complexity
The developer will work in teams that architect and design software and systems and form part of a larger virtual organization / Movement focused on the upliftment of health care in Africa and the developing world.
Skills/Competencies
The candidate should be familiar with (but not limited to) as many of following technical skills as possible. Not all skills are required, but will be beneficial.
• J2EE, JSP, Hibernate, Spring, SQL, SOAP / Web Services
• Eclipse IDE
• General development tools (ant, svn, ticket management solutions)
• Architecture and Design.
• Excellent knowledge of J2EE (Java)
• Excellent Communication Skills
• Lateral thinking, Problem solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work within a team as well as independently.
• Attention to detail.
• Thrive in fast-paced, dynamic work environment, demanding rapid turn around and frequent change in direction.
• Good time management skills.
Jembi is seeking a developer with a minimum of 1 to 2 years working experience in JAVA and a relevant degree, BSC Computer Science (honours preferable) or market equivalent. Applicants applying must be authorized to work within South Africa and based in Cape Town.
