Duties and responsibilities will include the following:
· Develop and maintain application components of a specific system, using a range of Computer Technologies. (VB6, JAVA, C#.Net, Oracle, SQL, XML, X4 and a number of frameworks and integration technologies.)
· Liaise with users and programmers across the different technologies on the systems.
· Investigate, analyse, write and test effective applications to meet quality requirements and client specific needs.
· Implement solutions following the standard systems development life cycle.
· Ensure compliance with processes, procedures and standards.
· Ensure delivery of applications under pressure and within strict time estimates.
· Providing consultation to the Production Support unit when required.
· Keep abreast with relevant IT technologies.
· Act as guide, mentor and coach for junior programmers.
The successful applicant should substantially meet the following requirements:
MUST BE 100% COMPETENT WITH USE OF JAVA TECHNOLOGY AND HAVE WORKING EXPEREINCE THERE OF
· It is preferable that the candidate has a tertiary qualification in Information Systems, or a related Programming qualification.
· At least 4 years relevant working experience.
· Understanding of a number of programming environments is desirable i.e.
· Auto Workflow Solutions
· Insurance and Investment product platforms
· Web applications
· Archive solutions
· Reporting
· Ability to work independently in analysing, designing and developing on system solutions
· Good practical understanding and experience of the standard SDLC.

Technical Qualifications
· A business or IT-related qualification and work experience in Financial Services in the area of Insurance and investments will be advantageous

· Working knowledge of MS Office and TFS would be advantage
