This role will maintain and support the java development environment infrastructure, both hardware and software. This includes installation, configuration and backups.
Skills and Experience

+ Windows [=Linux] Client/Server administrations skills
+ Experience in Systems Administration
+ Experience in Desktop/Server Software installations
+ Understanding of IP-Networks
+ DBA skills: Microsoft SQL, IBM DB2
+ Has supported a development environment area
= Experience in usage of the IBM Rational Toolsets [ClearCase, ClearQuest, Rose, Software Architect and Modeller, Application Developer, BuildForge, RequisitePro, SoDA]
Soft Skills:
o Good communication skills
o Ability to convey ideas clearly, both to management and technical oriented groups
o Strong interpersonal skills with a ‘service-minded’ attitude
o Problem solving ability required
o Takes on responsibility and manages it consciously
o Team player
o Determination to complete work accurately and on time
o Must pay attention to detail, be assertive, in order to ensure that developers do not bypass configuration management policies, standards and procedures.
o Self starter
Experience required (years): 2 years min
Description of duties and responsibilities:
o Support contact point for the project members, on installation and other tool troubleshooting issues.
o Work closely with current Configuration Manager.
o Understanding of the underlying processes used by the projects within this development environment
o Rational Toolset administrator [ClearCase, ClearQuest, Rational Software Architect and Modeller, BuildForge, RequisitePro, Rose]
o To ensure high availability of the development environment
o Maintaining and administer online backups
o To keep pace with market trends for J2EE and IBM Rational support for these environments and upgrades
o Install servers and workstations according to specific specifications
o Installing and configuring IBM Rational software development tools and DB2 databases.
o Will be required to learn optional skills for tools and platforms as needed
o Write ClearCase build scripts and ClearQuest scripts
o To perform tool mentoring where applicable.
o To refine, extend, and integrate the current and future development tools.
o Troubleshoots tool issues
o Documenting tool guidelines/procedures
This is a 1 year Contract position, offering R300 per hour
