Description:
We are looking for a Junior Level PHP developer who shall report to the Senior Developers and be responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying and maintaining PHP web applications.
Primary Job Outputs
- Play an active role in designing & developing software systems.
- Implement software systems according to accepted specifications.
- Maintain and upgrade existing systems through bug fixing and enhancements.
Qualifications and Experience
- 1 year programming experience in the relevant fields
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Solid Understanding of PHP, MySQL, XML, Javascript, HTML, CSS, XHTML, DHTML
- Understanding, creating and using relational database structures
- Understanding of Web 2.0 technologies like AJAX
Skills & Competencies
- Highly motivated and passionate about IT & web development
- Analytical and Problem solving skills
- Keen to learn and apply new technologies quickly
- Good communication skills
- Good Time Management and ability to meet deadlines
Other Beneficial Technical Skills
- Computer hardware experience: building computers, setting up networks etc
- Experience installing and configuring Windows.
- Experience with installing and configuring Linux, ideally Ubuntu. Installing and configuring a LAMP server.
- Shell scripting skills (SH/BASH/CSH)
- Experience with Web development frameworks and libraries including Zend Framework, JQuery, Doctrine, H2O, phpUnit
- Experience with an IDE like Zend Studio, Eclipse or Netbeans
- Experience with Revision Control Systems, especially Subversion.
- Design experience using Photoshop/Flash
- Experience with the MVC software architecture.
