Description:
Extrabold is a dedicated and specialised hotel management company which manages hotels and resorts under a variety of brands, on behalf of owners and operators.

We currently have 10 hotels (with over 1400 rooms) under management, across a variety of brands including Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, African Pride and Protea. We provide IT support and oversight to an additional 3 properties.

We are looking for a network engineer to join our current IT support team of 5 people who handle all lines of support across all the properties, including network, server and desktop support. Extrabold has a varied range of technology platforms including hospitality specific (Opera, Micros, Vingcard etc.), run-of-the-mill corporate network (Windows Server, AD, Exchange) and a few linux based systems (debian, request tracker, exim, asterisk).

We like to believe we are a meritocracy, so the opportunities for growth are good.

The ideal candidate solves problems, doesn’t mind pressure, doesn’t mind some local travel and probably enjoys coffee and the ridiculous amount of food and interesting environment that working at a hotel company brings.

Specific attributes that we are looking for:

- Good knowledge of Microsoft networks, AD and exchange (2003 – 2010) over multiple sites – this is critical

- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, especially DNS (yes, seriously. DNS. you will be asked details questions about MX records)

- Routing/Switching/VLAN’s (HP Procurve & Cisco)

- Reasonable Linux/BSD/*nix experience, i.e. does not look terrified when asked to write a bash script that uses a ‘for’ construct (not as critical, AD is more important)

- Passionate about running multiple server rooms that are well documented and don’t look like a Bosnian artillery positions from the early 90s

- Will try and figure out what the issue is before restarting the machine

- Understands why backups are important, and why you don’t want to find out after the fire that the tape drive broke last month

Specific hospitality experience is not required, but initiative and the right attitude is. If you are interested, send a link to your LinkedIn profile or CV.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience – the range is between 250k/pa – 300k/pa.
