Description:
A leading telecoms Provider in SA has a vacancy in their Cape Town office for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for the design, implementation and day-to-day operational duties related to keeping the network functioning.
Job Outputs
Perform day-to-day network maintenance, check graphs and monitor the overall health of the network
Router and Switch configuration and management
Interaction with other departments and teams for implementation of new services and / or changes to current architecture
Coordinate and document complex network solutions
Analyse network performance
Implement network optimization requirements
Perform advanced network troubleshooting
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of three years experience gained in the Internet industry preferably in a technical support and troubleshooting environment as well as in a Cisco networking environment
CCNP certification is preferential
Previous network monitoring experience would be advantageous
Good working knowledge and support of connectivity types such as Optic fibre, wireless, Ethernet, diginet, broadband, PRI firewalls, MS Back Office and Unix / Linux
Excellent hardware knowledge such as Layer 2, 3, 4 and 7 devices, coupled with outstanding Cisco based networking skills such as LAN, WAN, dial, network security, bandwidth management, NAT, access control lists, traffic policies and routing
