Operations and Database Manager
Braxton Group (Pty) Ltd., an International Performance and Development Management Consulting and Software Development Company based in Stellenbosch, has an exciting opportunity available that allows a dynamic, career driven individual to be part of our management team.
Responsibilities
Database Administration
- Performance monitoring, and capacity planning for database and server growth
- Administration, report writing, data analysis
- Management and maintenance of internal back-ups & recovery procedures
- Creation and maintenance of SQL queries and routines
- Reviewing and tuning of reports and stored procedure code
- Provision of support and assistance to development team in the design, development, testing, tuning and implementation of database applications
- Aggregation of data to Datawarehouses
- Integration scripts with 3rd party products
Maintanance and Support
- Data Imports
- Manage Support Team to effectively and timeously resolve client queries and errors
- Highlight risks and propsed action plans to improve client service delivery
- Network Support within the organisation (in partnership with Network Service Provider)
- Communication of problems and resolution to stakeholders
Deployment of Software
- Planning, Coordinate, Manage and execute Deployments/Roll-outs in production and controlled test environments.
Office Management
- Computer and software licence audits and control
- Ensure all servers adhere to minimum hosting requirements
- Manage internal processes and standard operating procedures
Competencies
- Excellent problem solving and resolution skills
- Excellent communication and planning skills
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances
- Experience of working with multiple projects/tasks and the ability to prioritize tasks
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems
- 3 – 5 Years of experience in database administration, development and support in MS SQL Server environments (Transact SQL, Schema Design, Datawarehousing, Stored procedures, Functions)
- Minimum 3 years software programming background.
- Beneficial if experience with Cold Fusion, Adobe Flash Builder / Action Script, SVN, eClipse, Csharp
This person will work in collaboration with the development and implementation teams.
The successful candidate will have a sound technical background and will be able to adapt to rapid change, will pay attention to detail, and will be an organised individual who is solution driven and able to work under pressure. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
An appropriate and recognised qualification and 5 years experience in a similar role is essential.
