IMIS Global is a maritime software company that provides software to manage the commercial maritime environment (ships and ports) for national authorities. We are wanting to employ a software developer with about 2 – 4 years experience and with the following key skills:
1) Linux Administration (intermediate / able to use the command line in day to day use) (CentOS / Red Hat / Fedora)
2) Apache Webserver (intermediate / able to set up an Apache web server and configure the system including virtual hosts etc. )
3) MySQL with SQL (intermediate / able to create a database on a Linux system and configure it for use with PHP and Apache and then create SQL queries)
4) HTML, PHP, JavaScript, AJAX, SOAP, JSON (expert / focus on dynamic web sites with integration of GIS and other third party systems)
Knowledge and understanding of the following technologies will be an advantage:
5) Delphi / Pascal / FreePascal
6) Microsoft SQL Server
7) JQuery / Cairo
8) Networking (WAN / LAN)
The following is required of applicants:
1) Needs to be a South African, USA or EU citizen and have a valid passport with a validity of at least three years
2) Have the ability to obtain visas and travel on a global basis (have no criminal convictions or affiliations that would prevent a visa being issued by any country)
3) Be willing to travel on a global basis at least 4 times a year (trips are normally 2 – 3 weeks in length)
4) Have an excellent command of English (read, write, speak and an ability to do training presentations)
5) Able to effectively interface with customers of different nationalities, languages and cultures (English is the common language)
6) Team player who is able to work remotely when required with a small, focused international team
7) Able to work under pressure and deliver high quality, well documented software
8) Working hours are flexible with 45 hours per week required.
Date of employment is ASAP subject to an interview and passing an oral and written technical evaluation.
