Description:
A full-time Technical Project Manager is required to guide the technical aspects of various projects within the Technology Operations division with main focus on the IPv6 Project.Based at MWEB Cape Town offices This person will collaborate with Project Managers, Business Units & internal divisions on initiating projects, developing project plans and will co-ordinate the projects accordingly to ensure timelines are kept. This person will establish and maintain standards, manage project communication internally within Technology as well as with the Business Units. The candidate should have a solid project management background.
JOB OUTPUTS:
Establish a strong, professional relationship with business units within which current project progress and upcoming project initiation can be discussed and planned.
Ensure that project objectives match objectives of the business units and Technology as a whole, and raise any discrepancies.
Manage detailed project planning, with a strong focus on scope management.
Perform project tracking to ensure that project timelines are being met, and that tasks are porperly coordinated.
Ensure that project budgets are agreed upfront, and managed execution.
Create a quality verification structure that ensures project deliverables meet the set quality standards for acceptance.
Build a strong team to deliver the project, managing the human dynamics, allocating roles and responsibilities to ensure success.
Create a communication structure to distribiute project status information to stakeholders.
Manage risks and issues as they arise on the project, include impact analysis and communication.
Manage relationships, plans and progress with vendors, should they be involved inthe project.
Assist divisions and Business Units in project priorities rating, project and resource allocation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Strong project, planning and process management skills
Ability to follow standards and process within the Technology Operations division
Excellent oral and written communication skills with regard to documenting and communicating project status, issues and short comings.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Information Technology field
Successful delivery of at least 2 large projects as a Project Manager role
Solid knowledge of Internet Protocol version 6 IPv6
Ability to work on multiple team proejcts and collaborate with creative and business teams
Hands-on Project Management experience and co-ordination is essential
Sound understanding of technologies within the Information Technology arena
Experience in Microsoft and UNIX/Unix-like operating systems, as well as a clear understanding of ITIL principles
Ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical client personnel
Acute attention to detail and reliable problem-solving ability
