The Technology division in Cape Town currently has a vacancy for a SCRUM Master, who, reporting to the Manager Development will be responsible for agile project management using the Scrum methodology by working with stories, sprint backlogs, facilitating sprint planning, daily scrums and sprint retrospective.
Job Outputs:
- Organise and facilitate project planning, daily stand-up meetings, estimations, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings – Ensure that the team are practicing the core agile principles of self empowerment, commitment, focus, openness, respect and courage, as well as focusing on collaboration, team accountability and visibility – Manage communication between agile teams in the technology development division, the product owners of internal business units, the developers, the designers, the content editors and QA, to develop software that supports business needs – Identify skills and team resources required for each project, outsource if necessary – Assist in the recruitment process and leave planning, provide budget and resource input to management – Mitigate risks and address issues by removing impediments for the team in order to ensure timely completion of project milestones – Manage project timelines according to the release plans and ensure that the project milestones are met – Collaborate with the Product owner to track and communicate team velocity and release progress to the various stakeholders – Manage the Software Development Life Cycle within the Scrum Teams to ensure that products delivered meet business requirements and Technology standards – Assist with prioritisation and resolution of defects by assigning and tracking bugs from inception to resolved status – Provide input to management with regards to performance assessments for team and promote agile principles within the organisation
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years experience in Scrum Master position – Certified Scrum Master and knowledge of ISP environment advantageous – BCom / IT degree coupled with project management qualification – Solid understanding and experience in software development project management and software development life cycles particularly for web-based sites or applications – Demonstrate good understanding of all technical aspects of the role including the application of web technologies such as FLASH, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, XMLT, C#, DNN etc – Experience with information architecture concepts and practices for web sites, service orientated architecture and object orientated analysis and design is essential – Technology competent in web software and applications, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome and other major browsers, CMS and database technologies, and their impact on development and testing
