Position is in Financial services industry , ecommerce area.
Java:
Minimum 4 years Java experience
Experience in application system development
eCommerce environment
Be comfortable analyzing code
Database:
Must have strong relational database (Preferably either Posgres) experience
General:
Unix/Linux experience advantageous
eCommerce background advantageous
Subversion, or similar version control tool experience is an advantage
Must have working knowledge of Eclipse (preferably) or NetBeans
Knowledge of CI
ExperienceQualifications:
Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification with a computer science major from a recognized technikon or university
Minimum of 4 years commercial experience
Personal Attributes:
Be able to work overtime and standby when required
Needs to be able to work in a team.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Self motivated and self managed.
Strong problem solving skills.
Must be able to use initiative and take ownership
Able to communicate effectively
Report on progress and raise issues / problems when necessary
Attention to quality of delivery
Strong planning skills, i.e work against deadlines
Responsibilities:
Problem Solving/Coding/Testing
Writing of program specifications
Ability to provide technical input
Mentorship/Coaching of junior developers
Required Skills;
understanding of source control, versioning, branching, merging etc
understanding of continuous integration, automated deployment, installation and data migration
understanding of Test Driven Development, and tools to assist with unit and automated testing
understanding of Coding standards, code metrics and tools to assist with development
Exposure to agile SDLC
