At SnapBill we really get a kick out of making billing simple. We are dedicated to developing and maintaining a truly comprehensive online billing and service provisioning system (the only one we’ve found where no accounting knowledge is necessary).
We’ve got a strong focus on all things automated… with the aim of keeping the time our users spend on billing to a minimum whilst ensuring that the time they do spend is a productive, hassle free and even enjoyable experience. Behind the scenes SnapBill is a powerful feature-complete system with an (almost ready) API that will open even more doors to our users.
The Job
SnapBill is looking for an exceptional PHP developer to occupy a senior development role. We are looking for the type of person who hates a lot of PHP’s backwards-compatible language design, but can craft the rest of it into an awesome beast. You’ll be deeply involved in our major code base decisions (including software development plan) and we’ll rarely expect you to answer to anybody… except maybe the chameleon. This is your chance to build something awesome and be involved from the start before SnapBill becomes a household name (and it will…).
You’ll be working in a tight-knit team of awesome developers and be responsible for ensuring that our code can stand up to the Korean People’s Army and our users… both of which have an affinity for breaking things. We require a results driven individual who has fallen in love with his text editor, on more than one occasion, and strives for maximum productivity.
The successful applicant will be based in Cape Town, South Africa, one of the most beautiful places in the world, the position is open to both South African and international applicants.

A developer with legendary skills and passion for developing web-based applications. Someone who takes pride in their work and wants to make the world a better place. We need someone who knows how to consistently produce an exceptionally high standard of work. Essentially we want someone better than ourselves… and we’re pretty damn good!
We require a high degree of versatility; You’ll be expected to leave a footprint on most parts of the code and the company for that matter. In a small, results driven team there is little room for specialists. You’ll be working on the back-end and front-end, scaling solutions, system administration as well as testing and sometimes dealing directly with our clients.
Requirements

Honours in Computer Science is neat, but we would prefer someone who has spent a good few years in the trenches.

- Extensive experience working with web-based applications (5+ years)
- Deep knowledge of PHP and associated testing frameworks
- Love for all things start-up and occasionally chameleons
