Taking ownership of relevant application(s) in the specialisation in terms of:
a) Being the expert knowledge owner of the application(s),
b) Managing all aspects of an application(s) integrity across all PBIT environments in collaboration with other key members of the PBIT team, and
c) Ensuring that technical architecture, application, database, configuration, integration, (security,) and performance design principles and standards for relevant application(s) are documented, adhered to, and improved.

• Basic understanding of the financial services industry, specifically banking
• Database design experience an advantage

• Experience in programming and integration
• Exposure to JBOSS / other J2EE Java application Server
• Exposure to Apatche FOP
• Exposure to Adobe products e.g. Forms Server
EXPERIENCE
CLIENT DELIVERY (80%)
• Deliver appropriate value in terms of the constraints of technical aspects around quality, standards, performance, time, and cost.
• Ensure technical architecture, application, database, configuration, integration, and performance design principles and standards for relevant application(s) are documented, adhered to, and improved (cost-effective, innovative, user friendly) for all new developments and defect resolution. – Review and sign-off all business requirement and business functional specifications. – Review and sign-off all system and technical requirement specifications. – Review and sign-off change impact assessments and test traceability matrixes. – Provide into to establishing, maintaining, and enhancing application reliability, scalability and performance measures in conjunction with application operations consultants, PBIT OPS and external vendors. – Assist application operations and integration support consultants with problem resolution through root cause analysis and proposing alternatives to find the best solution
• Work together with relevant PBIT and Vendor resources to maintain agreed PBIT delivery quality principles, procedures, and upgrades. – Work together with the Configuration Manager to ensure configuration database for relevant application(s) are accurate and maintained. – Work together with the Testing SO to ensure load and performance testing for relevant application(s) are established, maintained, executed, reported on, and enhanced. – Work together with Vendors to ensure accurate and effective code management principles are applied at all times. – Work together with Vendors to ensure security management principles are applied at all times and enforced through regular security audits. – Participate in the PB disaster recovery tests ensuring quality of relevant application(s). – Participate in change impact, design impact, and change control meetings to ensure application(s) are well represented in terms of impact, best solutions, and standards. – Perform quality control checks on any code deployed to all environments within PBIT (including development, staging, production, and disaster recovery) for relevant application(s) including code version, content (e.g. code delivered relates to changes in scope), configurations, data scripts, and new/changed maintenance aspects. – Manage vendors to deliver quality deployment plans (procedure/steps, standards, content, and schedule) for every PBIT/SME release into all PBIT environments. – Participate in all PBIT/SME releases where relevant application(s) are affected ensuring all aspects of application integrity are maintained across all PBIT environments. – Conduct ad hoc code reviews. – Run projects in conjunction with PBIT OPS to ensure technical upgrades are planned well in advance and executed to agreed PBIT delivery quality standards.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and priorities effectively.
• Understand your stakeholders and their expectations and priorities and manage these expectations through clear and regular communication.
• Facilitate ongoing liaison with other Investec teams, service providers and software vendors in order to maximise delivery success.
• Ensure successful delivery through continuous risk management according to agreed standards and principles.
• Produce system requirements and technical requirements documents, including such document components such as UML and Entity Relationship diagrams.
EXPERTISE (10%)
• Become the knowledge expert of the relevant application(s) in terms of both business and technical understanding.
• Continually build and enhance relevant knowledge of the Private Bank business with a view to achieving thought leadership demonstrated through value add in solution design.
• Demonstrate through attending all knowledge transfer session offered within the PB IT team
• Demonstrate though asking questions and building relationships with key knowledgeable stakeholders
• Demonstrate the appropriate level of competency in system analysis, code management, and deployment management (code release management).
