Web GUI Developer
Introduction
Concurrent Systems, a leading developer of software enabling subscriber value added services for mobile operators, requires the services of a web Graphical User Interface (GUI) developer. The GUIs will serve as friendly interfaces for configuring certain services operating in a Sun Solaris environment.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor degree in a computer science or engineering or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Minimum 5 years programming experience developing software and web GUIs using Java, JavaScript, AJAX, MySQL, XML, HTML, XHTML and CSS.
• Fundamental graphic design and web design skills including presentation, layout, composition, colour, and readability
• Demonstrated experience in designing, developing or managing user interface development standards for web applications
• Experience deploying and configuring platforms
• Strong ability to document, diagram (whiteboard and Visio), and verbally describe the architecture, design, and test strategy of products
• Ability to design and implement GUIs using usability best practices
• Motivated self-starter who likes working as part of a productive, fast-paced team
• Knowledge of a UNIX development environment is a plus
Job Specification
• Own the rapid development of web based GUI front ends in a Unix environment, from specification through design, coding, debugging, and deployment
• Translate business requirements into solution design including high quality mock-ups with graphic elements
• Write back-end design documentation
• Lead fast-paced GUI layout design reviews with developers, designers, project managers, etc.
• Conduct peer reviews
• Make revisions as needed and requested
• Write middle-tier Java code
• Ensure that every coding path is unit tested and bug free
• Verify that GUI meets intent of original requirements
• Participate in full integration testing
• Rapidly address issues and fix defects discovered during deployment
• Take responsibility for software lifecycle management including version control and deployment package creation
• Demonstrate commitment to process and production and maintenance of accurate design documentation
