Hi Guys,

I thought that given the anamosity and negativity lately we could use some uplifting. If the forum moderators feel this is innappropriate then feel free to remove the thread. I just think it would be interesting to see what Telkom has on for their Technician staff.

My Classic stupid statement was today:

"The plugs down the road are all full. Your line will only be installed in 2months".

After some tackling with Telkom Management I later found out that my line will be installed 1 week after application instead of 2 months. Just proves that they don't know what they are doing.

write your classic stupid statement from the Telkom technicians here.

This isnt from a techie, My Classic stupid statement comes from the management side.

Well here it is:
"We offer competitive prices"

Keith Brink, head of customer relations in 2003 ( a few corkers)
"if Ballito didnt want to join Durban Metro you cannot complain that you have no infrastructure" (we are 32km outside the metro)
"ADSL is not good for you, its already messed up by unusual protocols like co.za"
"ADSL demand is tracked in a database somewhere, i dont know where"

This one time, I foned telkom helpdesk at 00h00, and all reply I got was *snor* *snor* *snor*

Vapi - "Icasa did not apply its mind on how broadband is offered worldwide"

Don't even know where to start...
this is probably the best/worst from the helpdesk technician taking my call:

"Good evening, how may I help you?"
"My sync light is flashing"
"Do you have adsl?"
"Yes, I do, why else would I be calling to report a sync light flashing?"
"Do you have an adsl modem?"

~EYEROLLLLLL~

At this point I asked to be transferred to another person.

After numerous reports about line dropping, I was told I'm too far from the exchange/sub to get a proper connection. I live barely a km down the road from the sub...

Me: Sir, maybe you should go to the exchange and do a reset....

Teccie: What exchange.........................................????
