It's not that simple to merge touchscreen technology with the desktop; Microsoft has tried with windows 7 (and failed); Apple is known to succeed where others have failed (iPad), it won't be easy but I'm sure they'll try their best to surprise us.
Dedicated desktop computers won't die quickly; your investment will still be valid for years to come; neither Apple or Windows would risk alienating their loyal customer support bases by stopping one technology and moving onto something incompatible. What more likely to occur is that the new devices will have new technologies built in that the older computers cannot take advantage of (look at the iphone; 3gs introduced more RAM, speed and compass; 4th generation introduced more RAM, speed, better display and gyroscope)
Apple is busy with the new OSX evolution; this will most likely be launched sometime next year (

As regards new equipment:
1. It's highly unlikely the workhorses iMac or MacPro will be altered as that just happened;
2. Macbook pro will most likely get an upgrade later this year (Apple appears to be moving to ATI; October or November, before holiday season)
3. iPod Touch and other iPods (around October this year, inline with the iPhone 4)
4. Apple TV (lots of rumors; expect something in this space either late this year or very earlier next year)
5. iPhone (not likely until 2012; however expect additional US carriers e.g. Verizon?, Sprint?)
5. iPad (most likely 1st or 2nd QTR 2011); expect things like Gyroscope; Retina Display, more RAM and facetime camera.
