FW death rumours denied

If he's dead, it wouldnt be a great loss.

One of the greatest and bravest Afrikaner leaders that you ever had unlike the collection of a$$holes and warmongers like Verwoerd, Kruger and PW Botha etc ... who led the volk on the path of ruin.

But don't worry ... they will appreciate and fete him in a few hundred years and name schools after him and raise statues in his honor and forget about the other a$$holes ;).

tibby dude he had no choice but to end it

if he didnt have to end he wouldnt have
no great loss if he is gone

sometimes i dunno if your black white pink yellow or brown

The callous attitudes here disappoint me. Whatever your politics, he did contribute to the transfer of power, and now he is a very sick man.

The attitudes make me sad for other reasons... isn't it enough that a fellow human may be dying? :)

Myself, I never really liked FW but still.

Because he ended white rule in S.A ???.
I wonder what the masses who lost family members in the struggle to end minority rule would think about this view.

Give credit where credit is due ... MK or Zapla was not like the Nepalese Maoists or Tamil Tigers controlling vast pockets of the countryside now were they ???.

The regime could have held out for longer had they wished but he and his Broederbond buddies saw the writing on the wall a long time ago and made the transition smoother and less messier than it would have been had we a die hard character like PW or Magnus in power.

Shame, the poor man's had a crappy last couple of years, but he is possible dying now, and should at least allowed the right to dignity in what may well be his last days.

What writing on the wall did they see? it's exactly the mass action of the people that discredited the regime and forced them to abandon power, I don't beleive for one second that the Apartheid GVT let go of power out of "goodwill", It's an insult to the decades of activism and mass action that were endured. This Democracy was not a 'miracle'.

And this has got what to do with the pending passing of FW de Klerk?

No, it wasnt the mass action, it was the fact that communism had died in Russia. If communist Russia was still alive today South Africa woulld still be a apartheid country.
