So I see this when I logged in. Kinda cool! I have 1 invite. Now who do I invite that wants 1Gb free data.....

"Invite-A-Friend
We hope and trust that you are a fan of our supercool service and would therefore like to give you the opportunity to share the G-Connect experience with your friends, family and colleagues.
How does it work?
You start off with one cool invitation to send to whoever you like. The person will then receive a R50 voucher for FREE! That can give you more than 1GB of data!
What’s in it for me?
Not only will everyone you invite think you rock but for every friend that successfully opens an account; your online account will be topped up with R 10-00. So become a local celebrity and start inviting today.
How do I earn an invite?
You will earn one invite for every R 150-00’s worth of bandwidth you use across any of our three mediums (3G/Wi-Fi/ASDL)."

Me please? Would love it for 3G. Don't have ADSL :p

Every 1 that have a account there should go and check. when they launched I created a Account and NEVER loaded money in and I had 1 invite. So go check maybe you have 1 invite too!

Send an invite to yourself :D

ping for G-connect is 200ms to UK and 215ms to Germany. NOT BAD! And at only R37 per GB its not bad at all! I so love this ISP now!!!! I thought the per GB price was R49

Tera, PM me your name, surname, email and cell number.... I got an invite to send for a R50 voucher (1Gb data) and am feeling generous.

I still got R981.31 to use that I won on here. Spread the joy I say. :) I would also use it a lot quicker on my cell by I have an MTN cell and they only provision Vodacom sims.

Thanks so much ;) Appreciate it man. Will send pm :)

Do you need a 3G modem to use G-connect or can you use a 3G cellphone?

I.e. ATM I'm connected to the net via VC bundles using a 3G phone. Would it work to just input G-connect settings on the pc?

Nope. If you have a Vodacom Contract sim card then you can do that but otherwise you need to get the G-Connect sim for R150

You need to first provision your vodacom contract sim with gconnect, if that is done, then you can use it on their network.

Right, where do I get a G-connect sim? I'll spend R150 if it means getting a gig for under R50. Better than 250mg for R189 on VC.

Does provisioning only work on contract sims?

How long do either of the above processes take?

Thanks for info. :D

You must be mistaked. ADSL data Is R37 a GB but 3G data is 62c per mb. Whic equates to about R620 per GB. So you are still much better off with Vodacom's data bundle. :(

Phone the call centre on 0860 872 662. They will help you order the sim or you can just go to https://gconnect.wirelessg.co.za/shopping.aspx and order the sim card. They are in Centurion, so you can also go and collect the sim from them.

If you buy the simcard, they provision it automatically, but if you provision you current sim, then it needs to be a vodacom contract sim card - no prepaid or other network simcard.

How long? Depends on the sim provisioning, the call centre might give you a better answer.

Mobile Data

Eish, it would seem that I was mistaked.
Oh well... :(

* Eish * is all you are going to be able to afford after paying for Mobile Data :D

Let us see what happens when 2010 gets closer.;)

I CANNOT see the "foreign" bunch putting up with HIGH data costs --
so it is going to HAVE to come down.

I will buy you something to go with your * Eish * if it does not :erm::D

Only 28c per MB with the 30 Day Broadband Pass.... which is still a lot cheaper than his quoted R189 for 250Mb.

i have just been sent a link to the G-Connect website and they say i can buy a 30 day pass for R150 and get up to 5 gigs. Is this a good deal or not?
