If I use G.DMT my line syncs at 512/2048, if I use ADSL2+ it syncs at 507/2045

I know ADSL2+ is "newer" (therefore better?) but is there really any point in using ADSL2+ over G.DMT, aside from losing a few kbits in line speed?

I would think adsl 2+ is only needed for higher speeds from 10 meg up as gdmt does slower speeds just fine.

Which exchange? Are you on a 2Mbit line or up to 10Mbit? If up to 10Mbit your stats imply you could be far from the exchange and therefore not able to sync at 4Mbit+ in which case G.DMT is probably better.

Am in Plumstead but they stuck me on the Grassy Park exchange so I'm basically as far as I can be from the exchange. 2MB line, was on "up to 10mb" before and it sync'ed up and down between 4500 and 7000.

G.DMT usually gives better SNR margins over long distances, but it is limited to 8Mbps downstream and like 1Mbps upstream.

ADSL2+ modulation can resync without dropping the connection to the ISP when the SNR margin was too low. Even though it will not drop the ISP connection when it resynchronizes, your game will lagg terribly during that period.
I could be wrong about this resync thing.
