Gadget budgets tight

Many outlets have gone around hiking prices. The prospect of importing something has become much more attractive.

Bought a nifty toy for my son only to find it doesn't come with batteries...
Toy: R500
Rechargeable batteries for it: R300
eish...

Does it tranfer the recording to Microsoft word or do I need to write it down??

Just went onto wantitall to look at the creative zen. About a month ago the 2GB one was roughly R800 now its R1200 thats a 50% hike in price. so very not cool.

I understand the desire to hike prices for the december rush but come now a 50% hike is insane.

In the US prices usually drop after Christmas. Do they also drop here, anyone? :)

In this current local Gadget magazine they had "MUST BUY GADGETS AND LAPTOPS"
on the cover. You know must buy or something bad will happen, maybe your body's cellular respiration will cease and you'll die or something .... "must buy". LOL!

Gadgets, gimf, I don't need no stinking gadgets. N82 is all the gadget I need.

haha, Incredible Connection more like Incredible Corruption :D

I thought it was Incredible Deception and Hifi Corruption? Don't you have the two mixed up ?

Prices are beyond waning them anymore.

I saw a gadget Webcam with pocket clip (0.3 res and about 8K ram) going for R300 online (really cheap gadget site). I bought it 3 yrs ago for R15, and many magazines where giving them away with subscriptions.

cant remember the last time i could afford to buy a gadget the last time i got clever imported something from the uk it only worked for about 3 weeks i feel bad i could have used the money else where

I think things have suddenly become quite a bit more expensive than usual! The R/$ coupled with the tight economic conditions have definately made things tougher, especially in retail.

We still see people coming on to www.wantitall.co.za to purchase gadgets, but its not as busy as it used to be.

Our Playstation 3 Games seem to be VERY popular at the moment....not sure why....

The tight economic conditions should actually reduce prices. The demand for luxury goods has declined and exporters in Asia are anxious to subsidise their producers in the hope of keeping their economy going - those 2 reasons should bring down prices. The Rand/$ exchange is bad but it has improved lately - it was R12 : 1USD at one stage but is now 9.80.
