Hello Everyone!

Gadgets2Go (www.gadgets2go.co.za) is an Online shop that sells everything you can think of. They recently had a competition, whereby one can win a 500gb External Hard Drive. I entered the competition via the forum: http://www.gadgets2go.co.za/forum/index.php?topic=6.0 and I won!!!!! I have to say the whole experience has been nothing but smooth sailing - thats why I wanted to post my experience here.

I was contacted by Nimz who informed me I have won! I gave my details and a few days later my prize was courriered right to my doorstep! Neatly packed and I am very impressed by the fast and efficient service I have received. I can reccommend them to anyone who needs to buy anything electronic or non.

Here is pics of my prize :) :)

Thank you Gadgets2Go for my prize!!

Thank for the positive feedback!!

Enjoy ;-)

Thank You Nicci!

We really appreciate your feedback and hopefully more people will give us a chance by buying from us.

We try to match or beat any formal quote

So give us a try!

You guys should setup a clone, build up a rep and then get the clone to post how amazing the service was.

I am not really sure what to make of this thread. Can i also get a free prize for my hot tip? :p

No need for that
The competition was posted on other forums if you would like to verify the authenticity.
We couldn't post it here because of the obvious rules.

...but your site looks like Swiss cheese

I take offense to that, I was one of the people who set up the site, but hey, any feedback is good feedback. What do you mean by swiss cheese?

And any comments about any other site/shop, from anyone of us, be it good or bad (and there's been good ones too) are just that, comments. Just like Nimz pointed out something to Landmark, you or anyone else is free to do the same about ours. Like I said above, it's good feedback, and can only help us improve things. Mind you we are still a tiny speck in the industry, and like all start-ups, growth starts here, with potential customers .

And congratz niccia, glad you received it in good order :)

Swiss cheese as in its full of holes.... You need to update your Alienware desktops, Android and windows tablets, Asus and MSI laptops, Printers and scanners..... and a LOT more links or delete them as there is nothing available in those categories!

P.S.- I think its Nicci

Exactly. Like I said, they crit the other site for their one empty cat but their site is diabolical in comparison.
"kettle calling the pot black"

Good luck though.

They are a new start up company, obviously there will be a few things to sort out - but none the less, I have received great service from them, and this was what my post was about. I will definately reccommend them, and I will make use of their services in future.

p.s. my nick was niccia - and it still is on their forum :)

So, to summarise:

Hasn't used site to purchase anything. Was given free stuff by site. Now recommends that others purchase from said site.

Does this work the other way round, too? If a person were to recommend this site based on his non-experience as a paying customer, then would that person be entitled to free stuff?

I was thanking them for winning the competition, and for the great service I have received in getting the prize to me - was hassle free, and they kept me informed all the way. That is the service I am talking about - and also on the forum, If you pm them with items you want they respond fast. That is what im talking about. And due to the good service I have received I can reccommend them. Does everything always have to be a debate? Cant a person just say thank you and appreciate good service?

This is a forum, i think debate comes with the territory :p
Lol lets not discuss in the IT discussions forum... hmmm nice! To get less attention and less debating you could've put it in the Computer Retailer Praisewall thread but I guess that wouldn't have been all about gadgets2go then...

Where are you guys based? In Durbs?

Yes we're based in Durban.

My next task will be to sort out all the issues we can find with the site, starting with empty categories and dead/faulty links. I know it isn't perfect, but soon it'll at least not be like swiss cheese.

Exactly. Like I said, they crit the other site for their one empty cat but their site is diabolical in comparison.
"kettle calling the pot black"

Good luck though.

Just to end that issue, we shouldn't have been a hypocrite. And just so as to not annoy anyone else, I apologise. No more hypocrisy from us, and the site will be sorted out soon.

Well everyone has their opinion on the matter. Just think about it though, imagine if you had entered for some reason, and won. Would you think of what you just said before making a post on here? We did ask Nicci(a) if she would, if she wanted to, show some sort of public 'proof' of us actually giving away the hard drive, after all, marketing is what we were after. But lets not make it seem like this was a forced thread, or as if she was put up to it. It's simply not the case.

I think my point may have been a little hazy there. I'm not calling her a shill or anything like that. Anyone given free stuff would probably recommend a site of their own accord, but since she has never used the site, there is no basis for her recommending that others make purchases from the site. Her experience doesn't reflect anything of what it would be like to buy from the site, e.g. website use, payment processing, stock levels and lead times, delivery rates and times for purchases, pricing, etc... Winning a prize and using an ecommerce site to make a purchase are very different things, and as you say, competitions are about publicity. So you can't generalise from one to the other.

I'd have no problem if her experience actually included using the store.
