Hi

Just out of curiosity, where can I get gaffer kit locally? I want (need) to take pics of A0 plans etc, and I'd like to use 38mm Al tube, rather than an overpriced tripod that can't keep the camera stable when it's cantilevered out a meter or so.

In the interest of costs, I was thinking of just a 38mm clamp with a 1/4" thread for the camera, and some 38mm clamps at 0° and 90°. I'll mount a TV antenna bracket to the wall for stability. Who know what something like this would cost.

Something like this, but made for camera / light mounting.

Why not hang the plans against a wall and use a normal tripod?

I try to get them as flat as possible, so I weigh down the edges, they're not all the same size, and sometimes they're not always in the best condition. Flat is best. One day I'll get a sheet of good quality, low reflection glass and photograph through that. But till then, a steady mount will help.
