Galaxy Ace update with Kies

Does anyone know if Samsung has released the Gingerbread update the Galaxy Ace in South Africa yet? i.e. if I load KIES will the update be available? (Vodacom, by the way.)

I know I can flash it with the equivalent firmware from Europe or whatever, but I'd rather do it the simple way if I can. Also I don't have the phone yet, which is why I'm asking here...

It should. I bought my Ace from VC in December last year and it came with Gingerbread 2.3.3.

might work better for you but IMO the "simple way" is to avoid KIES, 130mb ROM download has to pass in one shot, no download resuming, and apparently it does not do a checksum to check said ROM before flashing, it bricked my phone, and its recovery procedure tried the same method to revert firmware without success

many curses later, some google wisdom, and with ODIN I unbricked the phone and am now on a newer version of gingerbread than samsung has made available to ZA
