Galaxy Alpha, Yay or nay?

Its either the S4 or the G Alpha.

Which would you choose and why?

Alpha battery is tiny. Rather S4 if those are your options.

Otherwise I'd say Z3 Compact.

The alpha is apparently very much like a Mini S5
S5 has better features (better camera, better memory, etc) allround but its bigger, weighs more, etc

So if you like a big phone with great features go S5,
if you prefer a smaller phone then Alpha

Sorry I see that you mentioned the S4, not the S5

Alpha over both the S4 and S5.
I think Alpha has LTE advanced, can make voice calls over LTE and use HD voice.

Lacks a few specs but better than a S4 I think.

The Alpha was only built as a demo to showcase, and act as, a bridge between Samsung's plastic and new metal designs.

I am rather looking more forward to the Note 4, as the Alpha does not really have impressive specs.

Alpha has a crappy display. 720p would be fine for the size (as S5 Mini), but it's pentile. Reviews say it's noticeably greenish. Nice build quality, second-rate specs.

Alpha is overpriced and the spec & build are almost identical to the Huawei Ascend P7 which costs only R4500!
Go with S4 if that's your only alternative....

It looks better,feels better in hand and its built better IMO.That alone makes it better but if you really must have an s4 I have one sitting in my cupboard like new still that I'm not using and I'm willing to sell

Yeah if you hate flaps then the s5 is also out,how about the s5 mini,waterproof but no flaps?

The Z1 Compact and the rest of the Xperia Line have a magnetic charging dock so you can avoid flaps.
