I couldn't find an official thread, so thought I'd share some thoughts after having had it for a couple of days (bought it off rtayob from the classifieds - an ex-DJ... device!). Please note that my comments refer to the older Note 10.1 (n8000), although they probably apply to the 2014 device as well.
Reason for Note rather than any similarly specced device: s-pen, price. I use the pen quite a lot on my phone.
rtayob had updated the device to 4.4.2, which I don't really like, but have been reasonably impressed with Samsung's implementation of 4.4.2, compared to that of the Nexus 7 (up and down arrows to show network activity in the notification bar is the first plus). I will give 4.4.2 a chance.
The new Samsung keyboard with predictions is quite nice to use. I haven't installed SwiftKey yet.
The front facing speakers are lekker!
The screen resolution does not bug me at all (used to it from my SO's Lenovo S6000). Just happy to have the bigger screen.
Having an IR port allows you to use DstvMote to control a dstv decoder. (The dev also responds promptly to emails).
I used chainfire's auto root to root the device from Odin in an XP VirtualBox with no problems. Apps with data were backed up on the Nexus 7 (TiBackup), transferred to PC via SMB, then restored onto the N8000. No problems there.
Although the s-pen was the major reason for getting this tablet, I haven't had much chance to play with it, but the design of the pen is a major improvement over that of the N7000.
Battery life seems to be pretty good. I've only done one full charge since l got the device. It's now on 42% after 22 hours, with a one hour topup charge this morning while I was out.
Things I positively hate:
* Samsung's proprietary tablet USB port. You need a costly adaptor to access OTG devices (rather than a generic micro USB adaptor cable).
* Location of USB/charging port. This is a major design flaw, as it is at the bottom of the device in landscape mode, which makes it almost impossible to use the device, in a cover, in landscape mode, if the charger or USB adaptor is attached. (Tablets are normally used in landscape mode).
* You can only use a Samsung charger to charge the device. A PC or other charger does not work.
