The continued popularity of these devices makes me concerned for humanity's future.

True that... Again, there isn't much difference between the note 1 and note 2.... Quad core, updated firmware.... those aren't enough to sway the masses to upgrade, and judging by articles surfacing that the Note 1 will be JB before this year ends, there really wouldn't be any benefit to upgrade... Of course you'll get extended updates over the Note 1.... But really. With XDA around, you won't be shy of new roms.....

Plus bigger screen and 2GB RAM.

I have the Note 1 and S3 and performance difference is rather big. I miss using my nice big screen (don't call much) so Note 2 on my hit list for sure.

Big ass screen with similar innards to the S3 makes it a winner IMO.

Bigger screen with a lower resolution? Disappointing. I'll stick with my original Note for now. Perhaps Note 3 will be worthy.

I take it you have not experienced the performance improvement on the N1 vs S3?
Still 720p which is perfectly fine. I assume with the extra 0.2" the resolution had to be adjusted to maintain aspect ratio (guessing a reason here).

EDIT: I see below you have indeed experienced first hand :D

Interesting. I also have a Note 1 and S3 and the Note trumps the S3 in almost every test I did. And the S3 was still brand new, with not much apps loaded, whereas the Note had all my apps installed. The Note is running CM9 though, and the S3 is running the official Samsung bloatware. But still.

Ye, not quite a fair comparison I reckon :p

Stock vs stock or same custom ROMS would be better me thinks.
I am running CM10 on both. While CM10 on the N1 is much better than stock it is not as smooth as CM10 on S3.

CM10 comparison is also a bit unfair because the CM devs haven't fully developed the hwcomposer for the Note yet. I reckon they'll be indistinguishably close when that's sorted.

hwcomposer also not fully developed for S3 dude. Much of a muchness.
N1 definitely getting less attention than the S3 though.

Didn't know the S3 also had hwcomposer issues.

Yeah at some point I thought all the devs ran away from the brickbug, but seems to be picking up again. Not as busy as S3 dev though. Don't really mind, as long as CM dev continues.
